The Queerreferat an den Aachener Hochschulen e.V. has been a contact point for queer students and members of the community for almost 40 years now. And we want to celebrate that! Even though it is still a few months away, we would like to announce our preliminary plans for the anniversary early on. We have undergone major developments over the years; after all, the organisation was founded by the SchwulenReferat and has come a long way since then. Among other things, you will be able to experience this development as part of our planned events. Of course, social events will not be neglected either. All events planned so far will take place from 30 April to 4 May 2025, most of them at the Queerreferat (Gerlachstr. 20-22):

Wednesday 30.04.
18:45 Champagne reception
We will start our anniversary with a welcome event in the auditorium of the RWTH. Chairpersons of our association and cooperation partners will say a few words about our joint work, our mission and current developments and we will start the festivities together.
20:00 Film screening
Directly after the champagne reception, we would like to show you the film ‘All of Us Strangers’ in cooperation with the film studio. We have chosen this beautiful and complex film for a representative and sensitive start to the festivities.
Thursday 01.05.
from 13:00 Open day
If you’re not yet familiar with the premises, us or both and would like to get to know us, this is the place to be. With some coffee and cake, relaxed music and a cosy atmosphere, you can talk to our evening managers, board members and other members of the queer community. Information about our organisation, processes and what we offer will be readily available. This event is open to everyone!
20:00 Lecture: Queer political activism in Aachen
To round off the evening, Distel/QFAC offers a lecture on queer political activism in Aachen.
Friday 02.05.
13:00 Guided city tour
We are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Aachen Queerreferat and what should not be missing? A guided tour of the city, of course! For all those who don’t know Aachen that well, want to get to know the most important spots or want to get to know places with queerfeminist relevance, this tour is the right one! The tour starts and ends at the Queerreferat.
16:00 Alumni meeting
You used to visit us regularly some time ago? Were you once our evening leader? Or even a board member? Would you like to catch up with people from your time, the time before or what’s going on now or just see what happened? Then come to the alumni meeting! This event is primarily aimed at old and former evening leaders, board members and other once familiar faces.
20:00 open evening
To round off this day in peace and quiet, we invite you to use the Queerreferat as a social space. Old and new faces can exchange ideas, food will be cooked for everyone and drinks will also be available. It’s up to you whether you want to play, dance or hang out spontaneously.
Saturday 03.05.
14:00 Lecture: History of the Queerrreferat an den Aachener Hochschulen e.V.
Now it’s getting historical! How long has the Queerreferat actually been around if it is now 40 years old? What has happened in that time? And how much sparkling wine has flowed? These are all questions that our speakers (not just those in the lecture 😉) want to answer for you.
20:00 Baby Unicorn Party
And now in classic lecture style: a cocktail bar. We invite you to celebrate how far we’ve come with queer music, all kinds of cocktails (including non-alcoholic ones) and an unbeatable atmosphere. Let the last few days sink in, have fun with fellow members of the Aachen community and hope with us that the Queerreferat will be mixing cocktails for another 40 years. There will also be a test offer from Aidshilfe Aachen e.V.
Sunday 04.05.

What better way to finish than with a queer brunch? Let’s say goodbye with sweet and savoury snacks, rolls, toppings and smearings, anti-hangover drinks, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and counter sparkling wine.
