New Here?

The Queerreferat an den Aachener Hochschulen e.V. is a student initiative and registered association that aims to represent the interests of queer students at universities and, more recently, in the city.
Our goals and concerns include the following aspects:

  • social, queer-friendly space
  • safer space
  • representation of queer interests
  • learning and recreational space
  • counseling center
  • information center
  • collection point for queer literature and media

If you haven’t visited the office yet or have only been there rarely, you can get oriented using this folder. We also recommend checking out our calendar and newsletter to stay informed about upcoming events on a weekly basis.

Our Events

We offer a wide range of events and activities where you can get informed and socially engaged. We are always looking for people interested in revitalizing events, bringing in new ideas, and leading evenings.

Our events can be broadly categorized into the following types: open evenings, group/label-specific evenings, organizational meetings, and parties.

Examples of open evenings include the Queercafe and Pub Night. Anyone can attend these events.

Group- or label-specific evenings, such as the Ace & Aro evening or the FLINTA evening, are directed at specific groups but are friendly to questioning or curious people as long as you interact respectfully with those affected.

Organizational meetings are usually less publicly advertised, but if you are part of a team or project group, the office is open for organizational work. A very open organizational meeting is the Plenum, where the board makes important decisions about the association with all attendees.

Parties or cocktail bars take place internally and externally. Internal parties are also known as Warm-Ups and are great if you want to try your hand at mixing cocktails—just talk to the evening leader! Externally, the Queer Office is also frequently represented via cocktail bars, and we always need diligent helpers to show representation.
